Soundproof Windows in Singapore
ALUMINIUM soundproof window IN SINGAPORE
Traffic on the expressway, the MRT via duct, a coffee shop downstairs, or a neighbour's renovation. Singapore has a lively life, and most of the noise comes through the windows of your HDB flat.
To cut it down, you need a lot more than just thicker glass. It requires planned soundproofing, sealed window frames, and the right glass.
At 9 Power Aluminium & Glass, we replace existing windows with soundproof ones for HDB flats, BTO units, condominiums, and landed homes, measured, fabricated, and installed by a BCA-approved, HDB-licensed contractor.

The Right Soundproof Window Setup
Window soundproofing works on two fronts. The glass stops outside noise from passing through, while the frame ensures no sound leaks through the edges. That's why, when you get your windows replaced by 9-power, we replace the whole window, not just the pane.
The gains of getting soundproof windows are bigger than the numbers suggest. Every 10dB of reduction sounds roughly half as loud, so a 20dB drop cuts perceived noise by about 75%.
One thing you need to understand is that no soundproof window makes a room silent. A good one, like the ones at 9 Power, takes the edge off traffic and street noise, so you can sleep or work without turning up the volume.

CHOOSE YOUR Glass Types
Every frame built by 9-power is architectural-grade 6063-T5 aluminium, powder-coated in silver, white or black, with wood-grain and custom RAL colours on request. The glass depends on the noise you're dealing with. Here’s what you get:
Works well if you want to reduce higher-frequency noise, like people talking, TV, or aircraft, because of its interlayer.
Great for low-frequency traffic and train rumble. 9-power recommends panes of varied thickness, around 30% apart, such as 6mm and 10mm.
Just put fixed panels where a section doesn't need to open; a sealed fixed panel leaves no moving joints for sound to leak through.
CHOOSE The Opening Type and Add-Ons
How a window opens matters because every moving section creates a vacuum that air and sound can pass through.
Casement windows close against a gasket and can seal more tightly when properly fitted. Sliding windows need clearance around their moving panels to travel along the track. That doesn't make sliding windows unsuitable, but you need to consider the frame, seals, and glass specification together.
For example, for a bedroom facing a busy road, we can review the existing opening and recommend a configuration based on the room, ventilation needs, and outside noise before fabrication.

Plan Your Window Soundproofing Around Your Home
Before we fabricate, we look at each window individually rather than specifying exactly the same setup throughout the flat.
Here’s what we consider:
- Which rooms are most affected by outside noise
- Where the noise is coming from
- Whether the noise is mainly traffic, trains, voices, construction or general street activity
- Which windows need to be opened for ventilation
- Whether any sections can be fixed
- The glass specification required for each room
- Frame colour and finish
- Whether grilles or insect screens are required
- The number and size of windows being replaced
Settling these early means you pay for soundproofing where it makes a difference.
How Our Soundproof Window Installation Service Works
9-Power uses a simple 5-step process, and the best part is that it starts with the window and the noise problem, not a catalogue glass thickness.
We visit the property to measure the existing window openings and understand which rooms are affected by noise. This also lets us assess the existing frame, opening type, and installation conditions before recommending a replacement.
After the first free visit, 9-Power will recommend the appropriate glass and window configuration based on the opening, room, and type of noise. You'll receive a quotation based on the actual window requirements rather than a generic per-window price.
Once you have confirmed the specifications, 9-Power custom-fabricates them to the measured openings. Fabrication typically takes around one to two weeks, depending on the glass specification and project requirements.
The existing windows are removed, and the new units are installed and sealed. For a standard flat, we can usually complete installation within a day, though the exact time depends on the number and type of windows involved.
Before the installation is completed, we check the window operation, seals and fit of each unit. The aim is to ensure every sash closes properly and the completed window is ready for normal use.

Soundproof WINDOW FAQs
A soundproof window is a window system designed to reduce outside noise entering through the window. It typically combines acoustic glass with a properly sealed aluminium frame. Glass alone isn't the whole solution. The frame, seals, opening type, and installation all affect the finished result.
